A Not-So-Secret Height Increase Secret: Platform Shoes

They're advertised as "grow taller" shoes, "height increase" shoes, "be taller by up to 2 inches" inserts, and that sort of thing. They work, if that's what you're asking. They can't be simpler: you put them on, and when you stand up you've grown taller!

The problem is, like a wig on a bald man who's self-conscious of the fact, it's a prosthetic. It's a stop-gap, a piece of chewed gum you stick in the hole of your sinking boat. So, you may ask, where's the problem then? Look at it this way: people don't really want to grow taller just for the sake of being tall. What I mean is, there's a reason behind you're wanting to be taller. Maybe you think you're more attractive when you're taller, maybe you want to be a star player in your basketball team. In any case, chances are that being taller isn't an end of itself, but a path to something else.

Let's take what I think is a common reason why a man would want to be taller: to attract women. Now, attracting women is another activity that isn't an end-product, it's just a path to another goal. Biology class would have taught you that the male of the species attracts the female for the purpose of mating and producing offspring. So in the case of our man wanting to be taller, he must be living in a society wherein being taller is a trait that makes him more attractive to the opposite sex and therefore more likely to attract a mate and have offspring.

But the thing with humans is that we tend to form long-term relationships. So, if our man becomes successful in his quest for a mate, and the platform shoes were the reason for his success, then what happens when the time comes, and it surely will, when she notices that hi isn't so tall after all?

Something to think about in your quest to grow taller.
